Did you know Marketing Works Best When It’s Simple?
I remember us driving into the venue for a casual religious program and being greeted by an odd sight upon approaching the hall. Standing right there among a group of other vendors was a young man with something that looked like a beer stand right beside the church. Naturally, we were a little concerned and wondered why no one was asking him to leave. Moving closer out of curiosity, it turns out it wasn’t your regular stone-cold beer but a fruity non-alcoholic drink and just right beside him was a sign that read “fruity” in tiny letters which you couldn’t have seen at a far glance! Through this excellent marketing strategy, this man pulled up solid business that day, selling out his fruity non-alcoholic drink and got a deliver in places he never would have imagined possible.
His marketing strategy was admirably easy and simple to deploy. He played on people’s love for beer, using it to his own advantage.
There is a lot of competition in the business world and you have to think of ways to get heard amidst the noise, you have to think of ways that will make you stand out from the crowd. Ways that will make people remember your brand and want to buy your products. Attention spans are getting shorter and to capture them, you have to do something unusual, that we are not accustomed to seeing..
When it comes to marketing, be it traditional or digital, you have to think of ways that will make you stand out from the crowd. Ways that will make people remember your brand and want to buy your products.
We can learn a lot from this guy described here — simplicity and intrigue were key parts of his strategy. No one likes to be manipulated, but when we’ve been cleverly tricked in a way that is not too deceitful, we tend to applaud the audacity of the person behind the trick. And yes, this is applicable in Digital marketing, your emails and sms can be introduced with simple interesting subject lines that will appeal to your recipients.
We can deliberate for hours and hours over what marketing strategies to adopt, but sometimes the simplest methods work the best. Marketing is a form of manipulation in most cases. Just make sure you don’t stray too far and you might have the same success that that this guy did!
