Today’s spotlight for our #termiimcm feature is open data analyst, co-founder and CEO of budgIT, Oluseun Onigbinde.

Oluseun is a fiscal transparency advocate and a firm believer in the power of Open Data. In 2011, Oluseun Onigbinde and Joseph Agunbiade formed a team during a hackathon held at the Co-Creation Hub. It was here that he came up with the idea for a need to publicize government spending to the general public, leading to the startup BudgIT. And in 2014, Budgit launched Tracka, a project tracking tool.

Oluseun on 13 September 2019 got appointed as Technical Adviser in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning. And on 16 September of the same year, he resigned his appointment due to some Nigerians reacting badly to his appointment for his past criticism of the same government that appointed him.

Oluseun has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and from the Stanford university graduate school of business, where he completed an executive program in Social Entrepreneurship.

For his outstanding contribution, in 2012, he was awarded the Future Awards Prize for Science and Tech Innovation. Also won the World Summit Youth Award, and the Draper Hills Summer Fellowship, Stanford University in 2016 to mention a few.

Oluseun’s believe in a just, and fair society adaptable for every citizen is one of the many reasons why we are proud of, and rooting for him!
